For the meditation-first traveller
Who comes up to Bhagsu for this
You are probably already somewhere in North India, and you came looking for something quieter than a beach. Sitting practice interests you more than handstands. You want real hours on breath and meditation, not fifteen minutes tacked onto the end of an asana class. Eleven days in a Himalayan village, cold mornings, early nights, a small group and a walk uphill to the shala. No certificate needed to join, and no pressure to teach afterwards.
Before you apply
- No certificate or prior training required. Complete beginners join every batch.
- You are at Himalayan altitude here. Arrive a day or two early and let your breathing settle before the pranayama block begins.
- A willingness to be cold in the mornings and quiet in the evenings. There is no nightlife in Upper Bhagsu, and that is the point.
- Tell us about back or knee problems, blood pressure conditions or pregnancy in your application. Several pranayama techniques are modified or dropped in those cases.
Outcomes
What eleven days of breath and sitting give you
- Sit for a full 45 minutes without your legs or your attention giving out
- Practise nadi shodhana, ujjayi, kapalabhati and bhramari correctly, and know which one a given morning calls for
- Lead a short guided meditation for a friend or a small group
- Move competently through Hatha, Vinyasa and restorative practice instead of only the one style you already know
- Talk about the eight limbs without reaching for the handout
- Leave with a written morning routine of your own design, and the discipline to keep it going at home

What graduates say
Completing the 200-hour yoga teacher training course has been a dream of mine for quite a few years now. The training was well structured, with a good balance between time in the classroom and time on the mat.

I completed my 200-hour, 300-hour, and 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training Courses with Alpesh Yoga, and it has been one of the most valuable experiences in my yoga journey. I initially joined as a regular student seeking relief from back pain and sinus issues. As my practice progressed, I experienced significant improvement in both, which inspired me to deepen my understanding of yoga and eventually pursue the teacher training courses. Looking back, I am extremely happy that I made that decision. What sets Alpesh Sir apart is his genuine dedication to his students. He pays close attention to alignment, technique, and understanding, and patiently explains concepts until students gain clarity and confidence. His teaching style is thorough, practical, and easy to understand, making even complex yogic concepts accessible. Along with Alpesh Sir, his team has also been incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. Together, they create a learning environment that is welcoming, professional, and encouraging. Beyond the physical practice of yoga, Alpesh Sir shares valuable insights, experiences, and yogic wisdom that help students understand the deeper essence of yoga and how to apply it in daily life. The classes are not only educational but also inspiring, encouraging personal growth, self-awareness, and a deeper connection to the practice. The training provided me with a strong foundation that has helped me build and teach my own yoga classes with confidence. His depth of knowledge, attention to detail, authenticity, and passion for teaching make him an exceptional teacher and mentor. I am truly grateful for everything I learned through Alpesh Yoga and would highly recommend the training to anyone looking to deepen their practice, improve their health, or become a knowledgeable and confident yoga teacher.Read on Google →

I can’t say enough good things about my time with the team at Alpesh Yoga. Sometimes it’s hard to find a teacher who is both technically brilliant and genuinely kind, but that’s exactly what you get here. I appreciated how much individual attention we received; it made the whole experience feel very personal. I’m heading home feeling refreshed, inspired, and deeply grateful for the lessons I learned on the mat. Whether you’re a beginner or a teacher, you’ll find something special here.Read on Google →

FAQ
Common questions
Yes — it is built for beginners, enthusiasts and aspiring teachers taking their first step. Over 11 days you build a solid foundation in postures, breathing and meditation through structured daily practice with personal guidance.
The curriculum blends traditional Hatha Alignment, Hatha Vinyasa Flow, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, anatomy and teaching methodology — so you experience the main streams of classical practice rather than a single style.
A 100 hour certificate from our Yoga Alliance registered school. It is the ideal first stage toward a full 200 hour certification, which you can complete later with us in Goa or Dharamshala.
$400 is tuition only. $600 adds your room in Bhagsu plus three vegetarian meals a day, for the full 11-day course. Traveling as a couple? It is $500 per person with stay ($1,000 total).
Crisp, clear Himalayan days that get colder as the season goes on, with cold evenings throughout and a chance of snow at higher elevations in January–February. Pack warm layers (fleece or down), practice clothes, and good walking shoes for the village paths.
Fly to Dharamshala (Gaggal) airport or take an overnight bus from Delhi to McLeod Ganj. The shala is at Upper Bhagsu, near Beetroot Cafe and Kibbutz — we help every student arrange the last leg.
Just 30% of your chosen course or retreat price to reserve your seat once we confirm availability, with the balance payable on arrival. The deposit is transferable to any future batch within 12 months.
Choosing
Is this the right one for you?
Dharamshala or Goa?
Goa runs the same hours with a precise alignment emphasis and a beach at the end of the afternoon. Here the longest block of the day is breath and sitting, the group is smaller, and the village goes dark by six. Choose Bhagsu if the mind is what you came to work on, and if you would rather walk to a waterfall than a beach bar.
100 hours, or a different level?
Our 200 hour course in Bhagsu takes the same subjects over 22 days, then adds anatomy, teaching methodology, practice teaching and an assessment, and ends with an RYT 200 certificate. These eleven days do not certify you to teach. They are for people who want the practice for its own sake, or who want to test the mountain routine before committing three weeks to it.

Style & approach
A multi-style yoga teacher training: Hatha Alignment and Hatha Vinyasa Flow
This 100-hour course is genuinely multi-style, not a single-lineage program. Mornings open with pranayama and alignment-based Hatha asana, the late afternoon moves into a Hatha Vinyasa Flow practice, and every day closes with guided meditation — so you graduate with a working foundation across styles, not just one.
That multi-style grounding in Hatha Alignment and Hatha Vinyasa Flow is also what makes this course a natural first step toward our 200-hour training in Dharamshala, which builds on the same foundation.
