200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa, India (RYT 200)
An alignment-focused 200-hour, 22-day training at Arambol, Goa — small groups, hands-on guidance, certification you can teach with anywhere in the world.
Overview
200 Hour Alignment Yoga Teacher Training
Quick answer
The 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa is a 22-day, Yoga Alliance certified (RYT 200) course at Arambol Beach, from $700 (or $1,100 with food & accommodation). It covers Hatha Alignment and Hatha Vinyasa Flow asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy and teaching methodology, and welcomes all levels — most students start here, with our 100 Hour course as a gentler first step and our 300 Hour course as the advanced next one. Prefer the Himalayas instead? See our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Dharamshala. See current dates and fees.
The 200-hour is the qualification that turns a practice into a profession, and 22 days is long enough to change how you move as well as how you teach. This is a Yoga Alliance registered course, which means graduates can register as RYT 200 and teach anywhere in the world — but the certificate is the outcome, not the substance. The substance is three weeks of practising twice a day, being corrected by hand, and then standing up in front of the group and teaching what you have just learned. Because we accept beginners on every batch, the course is built from the foundations up rather than assuming you arrive with a polished practice. The first stretch is spent on the posture families — standing, seated, forward bends, backbends, twists and inversions — and on the alignment principles that make each of them safe for the body doing it. Props are not a beginner’s concession here; blocks, belts, bolsters and chairs are how a posture gets adapted for a stiff hip or a sore shoulder, and learning to reach for them is part of learning to teach. The second half is where teaching itself is taught. You move from following a sequence to building one: lesson planning, cueing out loud, demonstrating cleanly, hands-on adjustment, and supervised practice teaching with feedback from your teachers and your peers. Alongside the asana work run the subjects that make a teacher credible rather than merely capable — classical pranayama and its effects, daily meditation, yoga philosophy and the eight limbs, and functional anatomy covering the spine, the joints and the breath. Groups stay small, at around fifteen seats, which is the whole reason the hands-on part works: adjustment and individual correction are only possible when a teacher can actually reach everyone in a session. Days run six a week with one day off, and the training day ends in the late evening with dinner — leaving the afternoons and your rest day for Arambol Beach, which is a one-minute walk from the shala.

The whole experience
From the welcome ceremony to the certificate in your hand
A course here is not just 22 days of classes. It opens with a traditional ceremony and closes with one, and everything in between is designed so you leave able to teach — not just able to practise.

Day one — you are welcomed
Before a single class, there is a ceremony: a tilak, marigold garlands, and a circle where the whole batch says their name out loud.

Every morning — you practise
Asana at sunrise, alignment worked pose by pose, philosophy and anatomy once the day has warmed up. Six days a week.

Halfway — you start teaching
The course turns. You stop being taught and start teaching: hands-on assists, sequencing, and each other as your first students.

Last day — you graduate
Flower crowns, garlands, and a Yoga Alliance certificate handed to you in person at the closing ceremony. Nothing to wait for in the post.
For the career-changer who wants a cohort
Who this training is built for
You want the qualification studios actually ask for, and you want to earn it somewhere warm. You are changing direction: leaving a job, or adding teaching alongside one. You want a full group around you, people to practise with and to complain to over brunch, and something to do when the training day ends. Twenty-two days, an RYT 200 path at the end of it, and a beach you can swim at every afternoon.

Before you book
- No prior certification. Beginners are accepted on every batch and the course builds from the foundations up.
- A few months of regular practice before you arrive makes 22 days considerably easier than starting cold.
- Availability for the whole course. The certificate depends on the contact hours, so we cannot certify a partial attendance.
- Physical readiness for two asana practices a day, six days a week, for three weeks.
- Enough English to follow lectures, practise cueing out loud and complete the written and practical assessment.
Outcomes
What you’ll be qualified to do
- Plan and teach a full 60 to 90 minute Hatha or Vinyasa class from a sequence you built, not a script you memorised
- Cue clearly with your voice, demonstrate cleanly, and adjust with your hands without startling the person on the mat
- Adapt every foundation posture on the spot for a stiff body, a sore shoulder or someone who has never been on a mat
- Teach pranayama and a short closing meditation as part of a class, rather than as filler
- Explain the eight limbs and the relevant anatomy in plain language when a student asks
- Register as RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance and teach anywhere in the world
Why here
Why Goa for your 200 hours
A Qualification Studios Actually Ask For
Graduate from a Yoga Alliance registered school and register as RYT 200 — the baseline credential studios and retreat centres check for when they hire.
Small Groups, Hands-On Correction
Around fifteen seats per batch, so individual adjustment happens daily rather than being promised in a brochure. It is the reason the hands-on part of the training works at all.
Taught to Teach, Not Just to Practise
Supervised practice teaching with feedback, lesson planning from scratch, cueing and adjustment — you leave having taught real classes, not just watched them.
Props and Adaptation as Core Skills
Blocks, belts, bolsters and chairs are treated as teaching tools, so you can adapt any foundation posture for a stiff hip, a sore shoulder, or a complete beginner.

- Final written and practical assessment

Came here as a complete beginner of yoga to do the 200h TTC. The amount of improvement I felt over this short time was really incredible to be honest. I learned a lot and the atmosphere here is just very welcoming and supportive, like a little family.Read on Google→

I’ve just completed my 200-hour TTC with Alpesh, and the experience was truly transformative. Alpesh’s teaching is one of a kind—deeply foundational and refreshingly authentic. The consistent emphasis on alignment and muscle activation, day in and day out, rather than rushing into Instagrammable poses, is nothing short of revolutionary. "Leave your shoes and ego outside the shala". Alpesh’s "serious" tone and almost obsessive cues during class hide a big-hearted human being who is deeply attentive to everyone’s individual needs. Weeks after the course, you’ll still hear his cues echoing in your mind—“kneecaps up” and “hip squeeze”—and that’s a very good sign 😊. The training is thoughtfully structured, and the two additional teachers Maithily and Rashmi are equally knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely wonderful human beings. I would recommend this course to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of yoga—not just asana practice, but yoga as a holistic system—using the body and breath as tools to explore far more than physical movement. BONUS point: the food. Fresh, made from scratch every day with so much love and care. I’m still dreaming about the coriander chutney, masala dosa, and endless rivers of masala chai. I have never felt so blessed.Read on Google→

I recently completed my ttc and am so happy i chose Alpeshyoga school. I was welcomed like in a family. The teachers are fantastic, the morning classes with Alpesh are the best i've ever taken. He manages to convey his deep understanding of alignments with extreme precision and passion. Maithily, the theory teacher, with her incredible knowledge and culture, was able to explain her lessons with extreme clarity, always making the class enjoyable and engaging. And finally, Rashmi, with her empathy and depth of soul... Made the evening practices a unique experience that i recommend to everyone. And the food prepared with love by two very sweet ladies... Amazing! For me, they were not just teachers but also true friends... This experience has brought profound changes to me. I thank them all and hope to join them soon for another journey together🙏Read on Google→

It’s difficult to explain how I felt during the 5 day course I did in Alpesh Yoga. But in a few words, it was all what I need. Two different kind of asana practices which complemented each other, plus pranayama and yoga theory. All really well explained! Moreover I felt like home! All the teachers were welcoming, and all of the know what they were talking about. They were open-minded and they listenend to me when I had questions (I had a lot) even I considered them silly! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom!Read on Google→

Alpesh is a very good yoga teacher. Although I have been a yoga teacher who has been practicing yoga regularly for years, I have experienced great expansions both physically and spiritually. He holds space very well, knows the body very well and works it like an architect day by day, and he is also very cute. I want to attend his classes again next year for at least 2 months. Alpesh Yoga is the meeting point for yogis and yoginis of all ages from different cultures🪷 Thank you AlpeshRead on Google→

I Took the 8 day alignment with Alpesh which was an amazing experience. As a beginner the course was challenging and I learned so much about the practice of yoga. I had been in a 30 day retreat prior to this course and I learned much more here in 8 days with Alpesh than in the entirety of the 30 days. Alpesh and the other students in the program were also a joy to be around and felt like family. Alpesh even helped me book my train ticket to Mumbai and make sure I got to my destination safely as a first time traveler in India. Would love to take future courses with Alpesh.Read on Google→

I first met Alpesh in March last year while traveling through India. I attended a drop-in class and ended up staying for five days. Eventually, I continued my travels, attending yoga classes wherever I went—but none of them ever felt the same as with him. For months, our schedules didn’t align for a Yoga Teacher Training (YTT), but finally, in December, I had the opportunity to attend his course. It was one of the best decisions I made. Alpesh is an incredibly knowledgeable and experienced teacher who truly understands each student’s individual needs. He pushes you beyond what you think you’re capable of while always ensuring that your practice is safe and aligned. As someone with back issues I deeply appreciated his ability to modify asanas for me, making yoga more accessible while still challenging. If you’re looking for a teacher who will challenge you, support you, and help you grow—not just in asanas but in understanding yoga at a deeper level—I highly recommend learning from Alpesh and his team.Read on Google→

This was the highlight if my year this year. At first i was kind of frustrated because it wasn’t like the studio we used to see in social media. But being here was a transformation i never expected, alpesh is a good teacher, he can be strict but for me its how it should be, a teacher should always push his students to their limits to learn. I enjoyed my time here and i wished i could’ve stayed longer❤️Read on Google→

I’m so happy I completed my TTC with Alpesh. He’s an amazing teacher and practitioner whose classes are simply the best I’ve ever attended, on any continent. During the course, I sometimes asked myself if it was easy or difficult, and while the difficult aspect was there, it was purely physical. Learning from Alpesh and Rashmi about yoga was a privilege, and every minute at the school was so precious. The truth is, once you’re there, you feel at home and simply don’t want to leave :) I miss the school so much already, and I feel so, so grateful for the time there! ❤️Read on Google→

Alpesh is a very experienced and talented yoga teacher. I have been visiting Arambol for many winter holidays and attend Alpesh classes to improve and strengthen my yoga practice. The classes are very focused, alignment is key to get flow. After three weeks I leave much stronger with much improved posture (sternum up, shoulders back, courage). In Alpesh classes I have become good at headstands and other yoga poses I thought were outside of my reach. Its important for me to Listen to learn and I make an effort. (Mostly;) Alpesh yoga studio attracts good interesting people who are fun and supportive. A great environment to learn, grow, connect and have fun. Thank you Alpesh yoga school. I have gone to many of Alpesh’s drop in sessions, and decided to do the 5 day alignment course with him! I couldn’t recommend his yoga school enough - he is the best yoga teacher I found throughout India. He is so knowledgeable, firm but very kind and focuses on precise adjustments that change the whole pose. He has taught me so much about yoga, especially all the details you miss out on if you are just practicing in the West! I will be back whenever I am in Goa/Dharamshala - thank you Alpesh!Read on Google→

Completing the 200hr yoga teacher training course has been a dream of mine for quite a few years now and being able to come to India for this reason was so important. But just as important was finding the right school. I knew I wanted to find a place near the beach which led me onto searching around Goa. When I came across Alpesh Yoga I really felt like this was the place I was meant to complete the course. Their website/instagram and other social media have lots to explore and you can really get a feel for what Alpesh has created at his yoga school. I really appreciated the abundant information and prompt communication from Alpesh when inquiring into what course would be best for me. Once I arrived in Goa, all of the teachers welcomed the students with an opening ceremony in the morning before we started our first class. I felt at home right away. My days during the 200 hour teacher training course were really well structured with a good balance between time in the classroom and time on the mat and the food was absolutely delicious. All 3 of my teachers brought with them so much insight and knowledge and were able to deliver it to us effectively with clear communication. I really enjoyed Alpesh's style of teaching, where he is direct and clear with his instructions, involves everyone in the class and gives a profound insight into the benefits of each Asana. All 3 teachers brought their own unique perspectives and helped guide me deeper into my own practice whilst also learning how to guide students myself. I was also lucky enough to share this experience with the other students. Being a stones throw away from the beach allowed me to really enjoy my free/study time each week, with lots of little villages and towns around Arambol to explore too. I really felt like I found the most amazing place to complete my course and I am grateful to have been led to Alpesh yoga. Thank you for everything Alpesh, I hope to return next season 🙏🏻Read on Google→

FAQ
Common questions
Yes — the course is designed for beginners as well as practitioners deepening their practice. You do not need to be flexible or able to do advanced poses; you need commitment and curiosity. Our alignment-based method meets every body where it is.
Yes. Alpesh Yoga is a Yoga Alliance registered school, and graduates of the 200 hour course can register as RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance and teach yoga anywhere in the world. Our graduates teach internationally and cite the school as their certifying credential.
Traditional Hatha Alignment and Hatha Vinyasa Flow form the core practice, taught through our precise alignment method, plus pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, anatomy and teaching methodology — a genuinely multi-style training.
$700 covers the full 22-day course, manual, props and certification. $1,100 adds your room near Arambol Beach and three vegetarian meals a day for the whole course. Traveling as a couple? It is $950 per person with stay ($1,900 total). Flights and visa are not included.
We keep batches small (around 15 seats) so you get personal guidance and hands-on adjustments every day — one of the main reasons students choose us over larger schools.
Arambol is a long-established traveler village and most of our students arrive solo, many of them women. You train and stay within a small residential group, the shala is minutes from the accommodation, and our team is reachable on WhatsApp throughout.
Reserve with a 30% deposit after we confirm your seat; the balance is due on arrival. The deposit is not refundable but is fully transferable to any future batch within 12 months if your plans change.
December to March is Goa’s best season — dry, sunny days around 25–32°C, ideal for morning beach practice. Bring light practice clothes, swimwear, sunscreen and one warmer layer for evenings.
Goa has two international airports. Manohar International (GOX) at Mopa in North Goa is much the closer to Arambol — roughly half an hour by road. Dabolim (GOI) sits further south and is closer to two hours away. Either works, and we help arrange your airport pickup once your place is confirmed, so send us your flight details and we will sort the transfer.
Most nationalities need an Indian tourist visa, and for a 22-day course a tourist visa is normally the correct category. India’s e-visa is applied for online before you travel. Requirements, fees and processing times differ by passport and change from time to time, so check the official Indian government e-visa portal for your own nationality and apply well ahead rather than in the final fortnight. Visa costs are not included in the course fee.
Certification depends on completing the contact hours plus a final written and practical assessment — the practical being that you plan and teach a class. It is not designed to catch you out. You practise teaching under supervision throughout the course and get feedback from your teachers and the group each time, so by the final assessment you have already taught in front of people repeatedly. If something is not landing, tell your teacher early; in small groups that is easy to spot and easy to work on.
The $1,100 with-stay package covers your room near Arambol Beach for the full course plus three vegetarian meals a day. If you are travelling as a couple, the couple package is $950 per person with stay. Tell us your preference when you book and we will confirm exactly what is available for your batch — a partner who is not training can usually stay nearby, and Arambol has plenty of options.
Yes — the training runs six days a week, so you get one full day off each week, plus free time most afternoons and evenings once the day’s sessions finish. Students typically use the rest day for the beach, Arambol’s markets, or simply sleeping. It is deliberate: three weeks of two practices a day without a break would leave you too tired to learn.
Light practice clothes you can move and sweat in, swimwear, sunscreen, a water bottle, a notebook, and one warmer layer for the evenings. We provide the course manual and all props — blocks, belts, bolsters and chairs — so you do not need to bring your own, though plenty of students prefer their own mat. Nothing here is hard to buy in Arambol if you forget it.
The with-stay package is vegetarian throughout, three meals a day, plus tea and coffee. Vegan and common dietary requirements are usually straightforward to accommodate; tell us on your booking so the kitchen knows before you arrive. If you have a serious allergy, flag it explicitly and we will confirm what we can safely manage for your batch.
Yes, and many students do — either to shake off the flight before day one or to travel afterwards. The with-stay package covers the nights of the course itself, so extra nights are arranged separately. Let us know your dates when you book and we will help you sort the extra nights near the shala.
Choosing
Is this the right one for you?
Goa or Dharamshala?
Identical certification, opposite atmosphere. Goa is the larger, more social batch. You finish the day on the beach with the people you trained with, and December to March is dry and warm. Dharamshala is the quiet one: earlier mornings, silent breakfasts, real cold. Pick Goa if being around people is part of how you learn.
200 hours, or a different level?
The 100 hour is a foundation, not a teaching qualification, and it has no practicum or assessment. The 300 hour only opens once you already hold a 200. This is the one that makes you a teacher: 22 days, supervised practice teaching, a written and practical assessment, and the RYT 200 path at the end.
